After the Pandemic, Women Exhibit Interest in Upgrading Bathrooms

53% of women said they plan to remodel their bathrooms and 26% want to add bidets.

CRYSTAL LAKE -- April 29, 2021 -- Bio Bidet, the innovative developer of kitchen & bath products, analyzed a large study on bathroom behavior and preferences to reveal how women concern themselves with one of the most used rooms in the home. After a year of heavier than normal use, bathrooms, and kitchens, top the list of areas they’d like to see improvements.

When it comes to which area of the home women plan to upgrade this year, 53% said they plan to remodel their bathrooms. And while just 23% of women say they have used a bidet, 26% would like to add them as an upgrade. Other upgrades on their wish list include:

  • 59% - New shower(s)
  • 55% - New faucet(s)
  • 51% - New toilet(s)
  • 51% - New cabinets
  • 47% - New sink(s)

The study also found that along with bathrooms, many women (55%) hope to upgrade their kitchens, opting for new cabinets (66%), flooring (59%), faucets (55%) and sinks (51%).

As the pandemic subsides, 80% of women said they will continue to exhibit additional hygienic and sustainable practices, recycling (57%), reducing food waste (48%), using less water (36%) and using less toilet paper (27%). Women also have expressed more interest in trying out more touchless technology (60%) and UV sterilizing products (41%). Other areas of hygienic practices women will continue to exhibit include:

  • 74% - Using hand sanitizer 59% M 74% W
  • 69% - Wearing a mask 58% M 69% W
  • 67% - Social distancing 59% M 67% W
  • 37% - Curbside pickup or delivery services 29% M 37% W
  • 28% - Using an air purifier 25% M 28% W

“After a solid year of more self isolation, home owners have been forced to reevaluate their preferences and living arrangements. These mandates have created more awareness for making our most used areas of the home both safer and smarter,” said James Amburgey, Director Business Unit Development at Bio Bidet. “Upgrading to newer bathroom and kitchen technologies, such as motion activation and UV sterilization, really makes sense and adds a layer of security and convenience that may have been missing a couple of years ago.”
